I look at Paul's writing about order and women in the church as a response to a disorderly church and confusion in the cities he writes to. I normally see the woman issue in the context of their culture, where women were not to speak and have authority, but in our culture, women do have this privilege.

One thing to reconcile, however, is that Paul cited the OT when talking about a woman teaching. He talked about Adam and Eve, and who came first, and used that to support his argument. That surely superceded, then, the culture. What do you guys think?

Mixed feelings about women preaching. Many would have never found the gospel if not for women who went into the mission fields! Was God really displeased with that? Is there a gender and human identity when the HG is moving on someone?
