I don't think that having a false teaching necessarily means any and all past episodes of being used by God were fake, particularly when the doctrinal aberrations came later. I am also not so sure just being aberrant on these issues means the man can no longer be used by God.
Here is the rub! Being Used by God or being gifted does NOT work as a sign or approval that you are perfect or everyone of your doctrines are either. The Corinthians apparently had the gifts but Paul was rebuking them left and right. They were immature and selfish. The gifts are not for the purpose of showing God's approval of a man. They are not for the purpose of making lots of money. They are NOT for the purpose of claiming to have a ministry. They are for edifying others
