Re: Sarah Palin, Todd Bentley, and Dominion Theolo

In a nut shell, Dominion Theology believes the Church is mandated to take dominion over peoples, monetary systems, governments, armies, and religions of the world. Once completed (or mostly completed, depending on who you read after), then Jesus can return.

As far as whether Kenneth Phillip believes this, his message at the 2007 AWCF World Congress confirms he does.

Phillips preached a message at AWCF that he entitled “Operation Shekinah, Expanding the Eastern Boundary.” The AWCF no longer offers this online, but Phillips preached this same message at his home church and they have that version on their website. If you go 47 minutes into that video he begins speaking. During the first few minutes he mentions preaching this at the AWCF meeting in Evansville, Indiana, and that he has preached the same message for a long time. He also says that he prays for “Operation Shekinah” every day and before he goes to bed. So it is evident that he feels very strongly about what it is.

It is not until 52 minutes that he actually talks about “Operation Shekinah.” He begins by saying that the reason the United States is a “blessed nation” is because “of their blessing of the Jews.” Then at 54:39 he states “This is what the war with Iraq is all about. This is what Iran is about. This is what it’s ALL ABOUT.” 58:30 he says the headlines of our papers are found in our Bibles. He then reads from his Bible about many of the ancient enemies of Israel, and then pushes them forward 2,000 years due to Jewish “arrogance.”

But a biggie is found at 1:02. There he starts into the backbone of Dominion Theology. He states there that Jesus “has to get everything ready for His return.” 1:03:39 he says, “He [Jesus] has got to get ready for His coming. And His people have got to get ready for His coming.” Phillips is not referring to getting saved here; he is speaking of expanding the physical borders of Israel “eight times larger than we know it today.”

Speaking about these larger borders, at 1:04:45 he says, “That’s the reason the President needs a prophet right by him. A President needs someone to interpret the Word of God. Don’t go over there expecting to successfully trade land for peace.” And if Palin believes Dominion theology, can anyone really believe her belief would NOT affect her policy decisions?

Phillips goes on to explain that this land needs to be taken because “God’s getting ready to come back and occupy that land.” And the reason Phillips gives for the Iraqi war (1:05:47) is because “the river Euphrates runs right down through Bagdad.” Then at 1:07 he says, “I’ve just told you why America is in Iraq. I’ve told you why Iran will soon be attacked, possibly in the late summer. I’ve just told you that God is taking back all of the land He gave to the Jews in its original concept.”

At 1:07:24 Phillips tells us what Operation Shekinah is, which is a Jewish military operation designed to capture Iraq and Iran. This is what he prays daily about? He prays that God would have men and women die so that another people could take their land? And this is Jesus' will?

Phillips then ties this in with why the World Trade Center buildings were attacked. He talks about why there are a lot of countries in the world that would not want to see Israel control the oil in those countries. Because of 9/11, he claims it was put off, but was later picked back up and became the policy of President Bush.

At 1:19:35 he claims: “We are now obeying the Great Commission which is going to bring the Messiah back to this earth.” Where does Jesus or His Apostles say anything about that?

The end of this has him preaching an ecumenical message that includes souls entering the kingdom of God regardless of Acts 2:38. He mentions a “Pentecostal Church in Korea” that runs 2-million in service. That must be Rev. Cho’s church. This is the same Cho found on Palin's Wasilla Assembly of God's school website. Cho is not Apostolic, and his teachings have been described as being akin to New Age.

Bottom line, those advocating Dominion Theology teach that the New Covenant is fulfilled through human efforts such as politics and war. This is completely contrary to the Teachings of Jesus and the Apostles. The Church needs to wake up, stop looking to people and politicians for their answers, and instead seek Jesus’ face in prayer!
