I know I am new here but it is interesting that this thread has taken a turn towards missions sometime after I posted this. I am the son of a long, long, time missionary who has been pioneering in the way he trains and equips the nationals. He is in a country that has suffered a lot in the last few decades and at some points the UPCI was the only foreign assistance in the country. My perspective of all of this is shaded by my concern of what potential impact some of these things can have on global evangelism...which I'm sure we can all agree is our primary purpose as a church.
With my parents being on the mission field for more than 25 years, I can appreciate some of the stories about things possibly not being done perfectly by every missionary. But I don't have the time to even begin to teall all the great success stories that I know as well.
