FOUNDATION OR PLAIN CAKE



1 1/2 CUPS FLOUR
2 TABLESPOONS BAKING POWDER
1/4 TEASPOON SALT
1/3 CUP SHORTENING
3/4 CUP SUGAR
2 EGGS WELL BEATEN
1/2 CUP MILK
1 TEASPOON VANILLA

DIRECTIONS

MIX INGREDIENTS TOGETHER AND PLACE IN GREASED CAKE PANS. BAKE AT 350 F.

ICING

1 1/2 CUPS SUGAR
1/2 CUP WATER
3 EGG WHITES
1/4 TEASPOON TARTAR

COOK SUGAR AND WATER UNTIL SPINS THREAD. ADD TO EGGS WHITES BEATEN STIFF. ADD TARTAR AND MIX WELL. DECORATE CAKE.
