God doesn't have to make sense
The word says that Adam was created in the image of him that was to come. This he said refferring to Jesus.
It also says that all things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made.
The word that created EVERYTHING was made flesh and dwelt among us
so man was created in the image of God made known in the flesh.
Please note that the word flesh here does not mean as we sometimes refer it "carnality" it just means flesh and blood.
