Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
I'm working on how to present certain data points in the Morse Biography.
Today is a list of the evangelists who held revivals at the Big Downtown Mission in the year 1926.
Not sure how else to present the data.
Jan 2 Clark Singers revival for 1 week.
Jan 16 Clark Singers.. E. R. Driver.
Jan 18 C. Jones
Jan 21 Misses Gordon and Hitchcock
Jan 30 Clark Singers continues with S.K. Clark
Feb 6 Clark Singers revival continues
Feb. 27 revival continues with the Carl Singers
March 6 revival Clark Singers. The revival will continue throughout this month.
March 13-26 revival Dr. A Robinson. Clark Singers
April 17-24 Ada Dowe
May 1-22 Ada Dowe evangelist
June 5 last week for Ada Dowe. Followed by George Moore
July 17 William Ried
July 23 Big brown tent. Harrison colored jubilee singers
August 30 day revival Manuel Sequira opening speaker. Dr. E. R. Driver main evangelist for revival.
September 5-30 John Goben revival begins.
October 9 William Reid revival begins 2 weeks after Goben ends.
November 13-21 S. K. Grimes revival for one week.
December 18 Clark Singers back for 2 weeks.
I have not penned a biography for everyone who preached for Harry Morse. Should I ?? Put it in a different section of the book ? Trying to make sense out of who came is not easy. some evangelists came to Oakland and had revivals at several different churches before they left town.
Others would visit Harry because they were friends. Some came out of denominational diplomacy. L. R. Ooten came in 1930, probably for such a reason.
After Morse left the UPC in 1952, Urshan would never preach at his church, even if he was in town.
But I have yet to review the data to see if certain evangelists came on an annual basis. Morse did seem to start the new year with a revival.
Some speakers only stayed a week. Others stayed for a month.
Enjoy the lineup of evangelists for 1926.
