Nobody said anything about "
fifty completely individual states doing what they each chose to do on every issue". What was being referred to is the Federal Government operating solely within the limitations the States allow it to per the Constitution. The Federal Government now usurps powers not granted to it in the Constitution by the States and
THAT has resulted in chaos.
