I can see communities embracing Islamic law courts with relation to family law and inheritance. The Muslims in question would have to both agree to be subject to these lesser courts. These lesser courts would not be permited to rule in criminal cases. The rulings of these lesser courts would not be binding on any other parties.

Now... is it a good idea? I don't know. Our society is so far out of wack... one has to wonder... would a bit of Islamic law stablize the family and assist with building a solid foundation and a wall against the evils we see ever expanding in our culture?
