The short answer: Yes.

The long answer: There appears to be more than one cause of depression, with the biological cause being a common one. There are medicines which can help with this. That is not to say medicine is or should be the only treatment.

Because humans are spirit, soul and body (1Thes 5:23), when we are negatively impacted in one area (the body), it can affect our entire being, including being negatively impacted on a spiritual level. Conversely, being strengthened in the "spiritual man" and in our faith can have a positive impact on our entire being, including our body.

Also, I have come across more and more studies which seem to suggest that the brain chemicals which are released from engaging in a regular exercise routine contribute to a feeling of well being, and is sometimes even being prescribed as part of an overall treatment program for depression.
