TV Question

I just have this burning question about TV.
Now a few months back Jeremy Foster got his Character assasinated when he came to CAli because his Video Illistrations are on TV. However, the church who started the mess had a young man who has brain cancer (VERY SAD) followed with a video camera and put online for the newspaper. Now, where is the consitancy in that. One is trying to draw people to Jesus, the other is trying to draw peoples attention to the sad situation to raise money for his cause. Both are on Video, both can be seen on a moniter. But one gets thrown to hell. I dont get it. Does anyone else see the difference, or am I just missing something?:spirit

Ah! You're in luck! We just had this explained to us in another thread. You see, TV was banned many years ago. Then there was this technology explosion, you see, and there were cell phones and computers and stuff. And, uh. Well, you couldn't ban everything, so you just had to settle for banning TV. Uh. I'm not explaining it very well....

Oh, just see for yourself: http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...149#post295149

IMHO, its dont ban what you feel like you could have more fun with or use more.

i was thinking about this and was reminded of a pastor i knew that preached against jewelery. then this other pastor asked him why he had on a watch?, he said well the watch is a time peice, not jewelry, it serves a purpose.

the second pastor said, well where do you buy that watch from?, he said i bought this one from walmart. so the second pastor says, what department do they have those watches in. the first pastor responeded, the jewelry department.

so the second pastor says, seems to me if it is in the jewelry department that is what it is. after all i wouldnt find a car battery in the jewelry department for it is not jewelry.

the first pastor reasons, well but this is something that serves a purpose.

i say all this to say, many times, we reason that if we can find a useful purpose for something, then we can bend the rules a bit to make it legal for us. if we claim something is wrong, then it should be wrong across the board. not wrong in one way but right in another.

having internet is very useful for a busy pastor or church member, can send information so much faster and cut down on time. publish your services on it, and much more. so we dont dare want to preach against this useful device. even though, the monitor looks just like a tv. then i am reminded of the verse that says

1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

*just things in church that make you go hummmm....*

From my personal experiences with the UPCI, the only consistent thing about UPCI is the inconsistency. ...I am not trying to be advesarial here. I'm just relating my personal experiences.

Have a blessed day!...:hanky
