Reaping What You Sow After You Come to God
The Bible says when we come to God we are a new creature and all things become new. Scriptures also says He puts our sins as far as the east is from the west. Preacher where I attended church said we keep reaping for sins we committed in the world and any we commit after starting to church and receiving the Holy Ghost. I pray daily and work at dying daily. I strive not to sin but I am not going to say I never sin. I have the Holy Ghost and have repented and baptized believe Acts 2:38. Please weigh in on this. Give Scripture. I understand as if a woman gets pregnant before she comes to God, there is the stigma attached to that. I have never done that. After his sermon, I feel anxious. Sin should not abound so that Grace may abound. However, do we reap all the seeds sown in sin after we give our lives to God? Such a discouraging sermon.

There are consequences to the choices that we make. Some things do carry over. It doesn’t mean that you’re not forgiven. Men in prison get saved- yet they remain behind bars for decisions that they made prior.

Re: Reaping What You Sow After You Come to God
I am asking about the sewing and reaping from the perspective of Jesus Christ to His church. I do understand what you are saying about a criminal “paying a debt” to society for a crime. This doctrine seems so discouraging and defeatist.
Thanks for the welcome back! |

God turns what was evil in that person's life to good. although a situation may still be the same, it is really not, because it is now a different person in the same situation. A person born again is a new creation, so the situation is really irrelevant for God will turn it for good somehow. The person who was to reap what you sow was a different person, not the same person at all. that old person has died and there is now a new person. So no you do not sow in your present life what you sowed in a prior unsaved condition. When you are a new born person you start at zero, with nothing from your past. |

Re: Reaping What You Sow After You Come to God
As a loving parent, when your children make mistakes and fail, you use their mistakes to teach them and help them grow, but you protect them and care for them and work to make their lives better.
We can't escape all of the consequences of our choices. But we can be assured that God is a loving Father. And he will make everything work out for our good. We must trust in God, and trust that all things are working for our good. (Romans 8:28) You have a promise from God that if you seek him he will reward you. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) If you trust God and take your anxiety to Him, he will give you peace. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7) |
