ideas about medical insurance

They say if we do not have medical Insurance we can be fined and go to jail. We are only required to have car insurance if we drive.
What if I refuse to get medical attention?
They can not make you see a doctor. I have not seen a doctor since this health care thing was devised and I refuse too. what right does someone have to tell me how to conduct my private affairs?
Yes, I am asking the hard questions.

Amen. I have the best health care known to man-
-although practically illegal for most Americans; it
involves whole food and exercise-
-and I've already gotten around that little
jail house scenario you present--I no longer
accept cash for pay, after $8k a year.
So, it can be done.

But sorry, those same people will
make you see a Dr. if they want-
-you gotta pass out or sleep sometime.

DeafD,

Essentially right now those without insurance who seek medical assistance end up with bills they can't pay. Health care providers are then forced to write off the cost (many states kick in a certain percentage to help). When health care providers write off the costs, they are forced to increase the cost of health care to cover the loss. In the end... we all end up paying extremely high medical bills because people without insurance seek medical care.

The concept behind universal health insurance and programs like this is to have every citizen pay for their health care by paying for insurance through taxation or legislation. Their hopes is that if this is done, providers will start being paid for more of their services, thereby driving health care costs down and lowering insurance premiums. As premiums drop, more people will easily find more affordable insurance. At least... this is the theory as I understand it.

There are no easy answers. All I know is that I know many people and entire families that are in desperate need of medical insurance. It seems like every single idea is criticized by someone. The way I see it... we're all going to have to pay for them one way or another. Therefore, we should consider whatever is the cheapest route. And that opens an entirely new debate.

This is a tough one.
