David Bernard - Is this statement biblical or not?

David K. Bernard "We must not seek peace at the expense of holiness, valuing harmonious relationships more than standing for truth and obeying God’s will."

I would like to hear the whole context of the message...at face value yes...to the point of being rude and abusive and having a holier than thou spirit no...

I love many things about the church and defend what I believe however kindness wins a lot more people than boasting or bragging...so it would all depend in what context...

I agree, if he is not referring to "holiness standards aka man made rules on clothing and appearance." Would you still believe this statement biblical if what he was referring to when he says "holiness" are "man made rules regarding appearance"?

At face value, I would say I agree. We should never compromise our convictions in order for us to have "harmonious relationships" with others. However, I find it necessary to withhold full agreement until I know what he's referring to as "holiness". By "holiness", is he referring to UPC "standards"? Standards do not always equal "holiness". The two terms are not necessarily the same.

I agree with it, since he defines what he means by "holiness" in the second half of the statement:

"We must not seek peace at the expense of holiness, valuing harmonious relationships more than standing for truth and obeying God’s will."

It was his tweet three hours ago. No other context.

@jamesdwilder replied to his tweet with this: "Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; w/out holiness no one will see the Lord." Heb 12:14

I agree Sister Alvear. I agree with him if it is not code speak for man made rules. Otherwise, this statement just seems divisive to me given the climate in the UPC right now.
