Sin Unto Death
 

1 John 5:16
Does anyone know what the sin unto death is?
I always thought it could be someone who died in unbelief but the way the scripture reads,it may be some other type of sin,scripture is really not clear on this.

Blaspheming the Spirit by calling it the work of the devil. Jesus said it cannot be forgiven.

This would fit.If one reads the KJV, but the NIV leads one to think that maybe there are certain sins that lead unto death.Paul spoke as if the people understood what this sin unto death was but never mentions what the sin is.We know speaking against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven here or in eternity which would lead to the second death so yeah I agree it's blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Amen. I think so. The bible does not leave us hanging about things. Somewhere in the Word is the answer to any given passage, I believe. So, unless it is blaspheming the Spirit, we would be left hanging, for there is nothing else in the Word about such a thing.

I would go to the Greek text on Blue Letter Bible if I were you and read word for word
and forget the NIV> Go to the text itself and decide what it reads.
