Need PPt:Mac 08 help
 

Hey all of tech-savvy apostolic friends. I need to embed a song onto a MAC Ppt to mail to a professor.

I can put the presentation together but it won't include the song when I email...

Dunno about Macs, but try zipping the file and then emailing it. It may be that your email server is simply rejecting the attachment of a media file.

Will the presentation play for you? Can you email it to yourself or another user? Maybe try posting the whole thing on a personal web site and sending the prof the link.

I think when you embed the song all it does is play the song, so you have to include the song as the source file too. So you are sending the PPT and the audio file

Ok, will attempt that, it works fine on my computer. I just have to turn it in as a final project and the music will make it perfect. I am using the Casting Crowns song, "slow fade"... We AFFers know about that :)

It works on your computer because you have the orignal sound file

From the Help file
By default, sounds are automatically linked (linked object: An object that is created in a source file and inserted into a destination file, while maintaining a connection between the two files. The linked object in the destination file can be updated when the source file is updated.) to your file, rather than embedded (embedded object: Information (object) contained in a source file and inserted into a destination file. Once embedded, the object becomes part of the destination file. Changes you make to the embedded object are reflected in the destination file.) in it, if they are greater than 100 KB in size. You can change this default to be more or less than 100 KB. When your presentation has linked files, you must copy the linked files as well as the presentation if you are going to be giving the presentation on another computer.

So the file may be linked rather than embedded.

It's pretty easy to embed it as that help file shows. You then won't need the source. It can be picky about whether it let's you embed a Wav vs an mp3 - can't remember which it prefers offhand. Then there is the Mac factor...

I have a MAC too and it frustrates me to no end at times-- and I've had it for a year plus now!

Did you read the help thing I posted? You can't embed just any size file. If it is too large it won't embed it. It links to the source file and plays it externally. Thus, you are only emailing the PPT and not the source audio file...

Supposedly there is a way to increase the size of what will embed

I am a happy Mac man and use PPT every Sunday! You simply need to send the music file(s) as an attachment along with the PPT file. The receiver may need to re-locate the file to play in your PPT file you sent him. :D
