As a philosophy, I personally don't have any issues with the rollback to the Clinton levels of tax for those making over $250K. However, I don't believe that now is the time with the economy in the tank and no bottom in sight. There isn't any good reason to raise anyone's taxes in this kind of economic environment and I predict that Obama will keep the Bush tax cut past 2010.

Kind of like your prediction that Joe Lieberman would "pay the piper" for his "awkward" speech at the GOP convention and his support of McCain?

I hope when it comes to tax cuts you are right this time.

If he's already delaying anything before he is in office, it makes me wonder what other promises he will delay when he is.

I agree. He'll let them die when they expire in 2011. You're right about this, just like you are right that Liebermann will pay the piper for his support of McCain; they let him off the hook temporarily. He's already being marginalized by the media and I'll bet he'll be forced into retirement before Obama leaves office.

Lieberman's day is coming. They aren't anxious to put him in his spot until they are certain there isn't going to be a 60 seat filibuster proof majority. It's sorta silly to let a guy trash the party's nominee during the Presidential race every 4 years and then come back into the fold and sit in leadership of a party he's been campaigning against.

The Republicans certainly wouldn't allow it and the Dem's won't allow it forever. When they can't use Joe Lieberman anymore, he'll be to the curb quicker than yesterday's newspaper.

That's easy to say if you aren't in the 250,000.00 income bracket. Most of those who are slaved to get there. I'm not sure why they should be penalized.

Exactly. I'm in the 26% tax bracket with a combined income under the $250K so I'm not concerned with whether those making $250K have to pay 36% or 39%.

I know that sounds uncaring and indifferent toward those in the higher tax bracket, but I'm just being honest.

Here is my problem,

We got a guy in the church that owns a small business, he is in that new bracket.(barely) He has stated many times that the current wording of Obama's plan will have him restructuring his business. He will have to lay off a couple guys. So a couple of $10 an hour workers are gonna lose their job just so someone like me or Mike here, (who really are not doing that bad) can have a little extra money. I don't know what that sounds like to the people in the higher tax but for those depending on small business to put food on their families table, I believe its called "greed".

Tell them to suck it up and get another job. lol

People get comfortable and feel entitled to a job. The Government needs money to function, plain and simple. I've listed to complaints from citizens about urban blight. They want more inspectors, they want more community enhancement initiatives, blah, blah, blah...but they always vote down the tax increases to fund the measures that they want...and then complain that nothing's being done. They're stupid. They should shut up and enjoy their ghetto or support a tax increase to get more inspectors on the streets and more initiatives launched.

But I see the concern with tax increases in this economy. Thank God Obama is intelligent enough to change his mind when he is presented with additional data....something the Bush Administration was never good at.
