In-ear monitor systems

I am needing some help in getting some feedback from anyone of you that use an in-ear monitor system at your church.

Do you use the Hear technologies system or the Aviom?

If you have used the Hear Tech system what do you like or dislike about it?

Any information from people that have used one would be beneficial.

I'll see if I can get our tech guy to respond. He knows all about
this.

we went "in ear" about 3-4 years ago. I hated it at first and
sometimes still do, but overall I've gotten use to it and it's
been for the best

Does it ever fall out?

Re: In-ear monitor systems

Aviom is the way to go for in-ears: each musician/singer gets a personal 16 channel monitor, you dial in what you want to hear. There is a unit at your board, it sends a signal by Cat 5 cable to your stage, and each monitor gets a feed.

Your bass player and drummer will "feel" the effects and will not like it at first because they need the bottom end to "feel" the music and stay "in-the-pocket" or in tempo. A lot of drummers/bass players use a platform with a sub-woofer and play directly on top of it, these are called, "Butt-Kickers" and they will make up for the lack of bass on the stage. When you get rid of the stage wedge monitors, you will have much more head-room at your board, a cleaner sound in the house, and all your musicians will be happy. If you don't give all of your singers ample volume, they will start to give out on you because the stage is soooo quiet, they NEED to hear themselves to maintain a typical Apostolic song-service. If you don't help them, they WILL lose their voices.

Aviom can be used with headphones or wireless in-ears, Shure makes great ones that can be molded to your ear and split the sound into bass/mid/highs, and they start at around $300. The Aviom system will cost a couple of thousand for a 4-5 player set-up.

I hope this helps...

Not if you get them molded to your ears, as in a Shure E-3

Has anyone here used the Hear Technologies system?

If price is an issue and the number of channels are not, then the Hear Tech might be your choice...16 vs 8 channels. Also, the quality looks a little inferior.

Most road musicians use Aviom due to its ruggedness.

you can go to any audiologist and get molds made from the cheapest of ear buds. I tried the Shure E-2's and didn't like them moved over to MAudio (made by ultimate ears) IE-10's and love the crispness in the sound, I've since moved on to the dual driver IE-30's. Without using the "butt kicker" which rocks, it may be worth it to try the dual drivers for the drummer and Bass Players. I find that the Dual Driver gives me enough kick when sitting behind the kit. There are also triple driver ears made now...The IE-40's just went on the market 3-4 months ago and Shure also has one out.
