I have never seen one. All of the ones I have had over the years all had the same issues;

While they claim to cover 80% of neccessary dental work and 50% of cosmetic up to usually $1500 per year my experience has been that they only cover those percentages of what they say are "customary" charges for services and no dentists in either TX or TN have ever charged that little for their services.

The end result is that the 80% coverage usually works out to about 40% and the 50% about 25%.

They usually do cover your teeth cleaning which is probably worth about fifty bucks but the $35 bucks a month I am paying for the insuarnce works out to $420 per year I probably should just save in a savings account toward dental work when it comes up.

I would generally agree that you're better off putting the money in savings, and then finding a cheaper dentist than the ones CC1 does. :) The usual and customary is based on rates in the area, so CC1 must find the higher priced ones.

Ameriplan is not insurance. It is a discount plan. Big difference.

Yes, i know. I've used them before.
I still felt they were worth recommending.

If he goes to the site he will see what they're about, and be able to make an informed decision.

True. Another discount plan he can take a look at (if that's the direction he wants to go in) is http://www.planplushealthcare.com/?SRC=PPSAV
