Remitted on the Cross or not?
Given that all our sin was reckoned to Christ.
Given that all sin reckoned to Christ was remitted prior to the resurrection, else he would not have been raised from the dead. 1) What further remission do we obtain in the waters of baptism which did not happen on the Cross? 2) Does the teaching of baptismal sin remission declare a disbelief in the sin remitting work of the Cross? |

True believers will obey.1 Peter1:22: Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever |
Thanks for your thoughts Joelel, but you didn't address the questions. Could you please?

Prax, please don't tell me you don't believe Christ bore our sins. If the sin Christ bore on the Cross was not removed then the wage of that sin, which was death, would have kept him in the grave. You disagree?

I never said one thing that hinted I did not believe Christ bore our sins...had you said "Christ bore our sins on the cross" I would agree. However saying our sins are reckoned does not mean the same as we are reckoned to be rightous....saying are sins are wiped away is not the same as saying he imputes the rightouness of Christ to our accounting... |
Phew....you had me worried there for a second, Bro.
Please address the remission of the sin he bore on the Cross. Do you agree it was necessary for the sin he bore to be remitted before he could be raised? Thanks. |

He bore the penalty for all our sins on the cross...our sins are not remitted automatically at that moment, else we'd all be forgiven now already. His death on the cross is the means by which when I have faith and repent, my sins are forgiven. When he bore the sins I don't think is even related to whether or not he could be raised. It was God's will regardless of the resurrection, that his death atones for our sins...not his resurrection. I guess I'm just having a little trouble with the language of the questions |

Let me put it this way. Since Jesus fulfilled the Law, at what point was the sins of Israel pushed forward? Was it when the lamb was slain? Was it when the blood was placed upon the giver of the sacrifice? Was it when the scape goat was let go? Was it when the blood was offered in the Holies of Holies?
also, does remission of sins = being born again? |
