AFF University

If AFF were a University-

What classes would be taught?
Who would teach them?
Would there be clubs? Who would run the clubs?
Would there be other extra curricular activities?
What would our honor roll look like? Who would be A students? Who be the class clowns??

Use this thread to nominate yourself or others for any of the above- AFF university is now hiring!!!

Re: AFF University

I would definitely be in the club/extra-curricular activity crowd. Some of the Deep Waters discussions give me a headache. LOL

Re: AFF University

okay... I was going to start a thread but Pro31 and Stewie seem to be following my thoughts, sort of.

In that extra-curricular department at AFF U, let's say there's a zip line. A standard zip through the jungle canopy kind of line that is 100+ feet in length and with a drop sufficient for exhilarating speeds...

Is there any way a Pentecostal girl can ride that thing modestly with confidence in a skirt? Anybody ever try it?

missourimary 01-02-2010 08:19 PM

Re: AFF University

Nope, never tried it, but I bet I could find a way... here goes. Modesty kept strictly in mind:

Here I come! All you men CLOSE YOUR EYES!!!

I made it!!!!

I think I nominate myself to be one of the class clowns. I'll leave some room for a few more though...

Which class is that?

My son went on a missions trip to Costa Rica and did the zip line, all the ladies wore pants or shorts.

My wife is demanding an opportunity on a trip coming up to Mexico. She's insisting that you can do it in a skirt.

The UPC standards nonsense has that sort of a grip on my home. In order to be "modest" she's insisting that she flash her 40 year old bum to the assembled crowd below and that it would be "okay."

It is possible that the harness would wrap that skirt up so that it wouldn't be immodest. But It seems like the pictures were of a harness that they stepped into but there may be different ones.

Every one I've seen is a standard sort of rappelling type harness with "holes" for each leg and attached at the crotch. Just to get into the thing a lady has to hike her skirt up over her waist. The whole thing will then parachute over your face - from the waist up, exposing whatever you were prudent to wear underneath.

Skirts on women are intended to keep them from participating in many activities and occupations. That's the reason women's apparel and men's apparel took such a divergence in form during the Middle Ages.

In the Victorian era it was demanded and considered a sign of "civilization" for the women to be chained by their skirts from participating in "manly" pursuits such as horseback racing and scaffold climbing. In antiquity, everyone was expected to labor together so the tunics and robes were a bit more similar for functional reasons.

Sorry... veering off topic... feeling kind of cranky today.

Nothing new about that. She will be talking about something and about half way through a sentence and it will remind me of something and I will interrupt her with, "Did you call the Hendrys about the Super Bowl party?" Then I will see the look on her face and I realize what I have done.

Well? Have the Hendrys been alerted about the Super Bowl party? They're coming right?

Sounds like there have been some "discussions" about this.

I wouldn't say I'm here for the football. Maybe the cheerleading, but not the football.

Actually, if AFF was a college, I'd probably be the woman who works in the cafeteria feeding all the starving kids and acting as their Mom-Away-From-Home.

Of course, I'd also want to sit in on all of the available Art classes. But I'd be skipping those heavy-hitting deep theological classes. I know what I believe. I don't feel the need to argue it with anyone else to try to convince them.

LOL. But, I've hardly ever brought up the family ruckuses here. When I was (sort of) incognito as pelathais it was something that I avoided like the plague.

Any other couples "unequally yoked" out there? One spouse is a "standards nazi" and the other "dresses any way they want?"

I think we may be in NC this year I haven't checked the date yet. Perhaps you should enroll your wife in AFF university. Oh and she can pay the registrar (Baron) for the number of Credit hours she needs. We can indoctrinate...er...I mean educate her on true modesty.

Of course, being an apostolic college, if there were such a sport that required a harness, either they would have separate classes for the men and women, or they would have a side saddle harness for the women, and women would wear coulottes.

Fortunately no, but Pro needs to lose the young earth view she has been clinging to.

Can you handle that class?

Yes for keeping the "online" portion actually online and working. Of course I am talking about actually teaching computer basics. Something that I feel is probably sorely lacking in most bible colleges.

But I'm counting on you to do the field trips to show the stromatolite fossils in the lower deposits near the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

Stromatolite only form in still waters and require years to grow. They have annual growth rings like trees. This is proof that (among many other proofs) the Grand Canyon sediments could not have been laid down during a hypothesized world wide flood a mere 4,000 years ago or so.

Ok, here I go hijacking my own thread...

I teach the microsoft office suite to students Kindergarten Through High School- I teach it through projects that the students complete throughout the year. I really felt like they were getting a bit short changed because of my lack of knowledge concerning hardware. I went to a Christian School conference and attended 2 IT classes, I found our program to be worlds and away ahead. I ended up almost co-teaching one of the seminars... it is sad...

BUT I refuse to teach MS at AFF U

How were they hurt? Did they wear the harness in the recommended fashion, or did they have to use just one leg hole?

That's the danger I fear. If the carriage snagged at all you could zip right through the harness itself and fall to the bottom of the ravine or whatever.
