Need some ideas from the ladies

I had just asked a young lady out from the church I grew up in.
Anyway come close to Christmas time, I was wondering if the following was a decent idea or what yall might suggest for ideas for that or just general dating ideas.
Especially considering I have been out of the loop of dating for over 13 years.

I was thinking about closer to christmas, taking her to the mall to get a build a bear project of her choice. Would this be an appropiate idea for the basis of a date considering that she is 20 and I am in my early 30's?

Okay...I may be just a bit prejudiced here since I have a collection of various types of stuffed animals :christmoose, but I think it would be a fun first date!
I've always wanted to go and "build a bear" but unfortunately we don't have a store closer than 80 miles away from us...someday though I want to do that, looks fun!

(Just looking at the other side of things...)

Y'all are stuck with a stuffed 'reminder'. :gift

I'd have her pick out a nice bear rug.

Hey, "I" think it is a good idea -as long as you do something else as well.

The only thing missing is a camera crew to tag along, and some clever editing and "word balloons" added to your conversation. :)

What is a build a bear project? Am I the only one who doesn't know what this is?:sos

Re: Need some ideas from the ladies

Lol - build a bear is a store where you go in and actually make a bear. You can make it personal by what you choose to dress it with - you can add a personal message in it, etc.

Not sure about the date part - - I'd have to know the lady to know if it was a good idea.

I think it is a good idea for a first date- Then plan to go have coffee and/or dessert afterward.

Re: Need some ideas from the ladies

I voted no only because I thought I wouldn't like it. However, if you ask her and she thinks it is a good idea than go for it. Considering she is 20 and you are early 30, she might think it was a sweet idea or she may get the idea that you think she is still young. My husband is 7 years older than me and if he would have suggested that, I would have taken offense because I would have thought he was thinking I was still young.

If Christmas trees are ok with you both, going and seeing them might be a good date. We have a festival downtown and different groups can decorate a tree to go to charity and they win prizes. It is a big deal and there are 100's of trees to see.

i would go out to eat then if you go to the mall and pass the shop, you could ask..."want to build a bear" casually. i would not plan it as the date.

Re: Need some ideas from the ladies

My daughter had a boyfriend once who took her to "Build a Bear" for a date. She absolutely loved it and kept the bear until she was getting ready to get married, when she got rid of all the "other boys" stuff. I think it's a fun idea for a first date.

I think it sounds fun, but I agree with those who said it shouldn't be THE date. Eat out, make it part of the night, but not the main attraction. :)

You sound like you anticipate the relationship to go beyond a first date - so, yes, if you feel that you are going to be good friends - do it.

Be careful what you give her if you are not sure. Women can become more attached than a man, in most cases.

Hey! I can't help it! :nutso

I'm just too sensitive and sentimental when it comes to cuddly bears, or cute little animals. :girlyluv

All I can think of is how I would feel if I went on a date, got to build a wonderful little bear that I would immediately be smitten with, and love it, and cuddle it, and hug it...only to have to give it up if things didn't work out and it became a constant reminder of a failed relationship. :gift

Re: Need some ideas from the ladies

Some of the comments did make me laugh!
The build a bear project, wouldn't be the only thing to do that day, just one of them. And of course I would be coming home with a bear myself!

We've already been out once, and friday I plan to cook dinner and and watch the first madagascar movie at the house or bring it over to her house for her and her family.

I hope it goes futher, but if it doesn't- I think I will still have a good friend.

That's right, nwlife, make your plans ahead of time. It won't work out anyway. You know how things go at Christmas time. One minute you are up and happy and the next - she leaves for another man with a stuffed animal!!! :tissue

Give it to someone needy and hope for better days!!!! God is good!!! :tissue

It's the magazines he can't get used to. I bought three more over the Thanksgiving weekend. When I got in the truck, I looked at him and said, "It's Christmas."

Later he bought a fishing magazine for the Gulf Coast, plopped it in my lap and said, "It's Christmas." :toofunny
