Just do me a favor and try to call and let me know you're ok. I know phones may be out, and power off for awhile, but try...please?

We don't think we are leaving, thus far.

We have a mandatory evacuation. A friend called and said that if you leave after 8:00 p.m. tonight, they won't let you back in.

Re: Hike away from Ike?

We are under mandatory evacuation also, and the storm has just jogged more east closer to us.

My husband thinks he wants to evacuate. The problem could be in getting back in.

I'd thought about that getting back in thing. It's all up in the air once you leave, up to whoever makes those decisions. Bleh. Not a fun decision to make, at all.

I was just on the phone with a friend that is there. She's thinking of leaving, but doesn't know.

My husband's brother said he isn't leaving. That would be just like Tim. lol

I have spent the afternoon trying to tie down everything that could blow away and trying to prepare for camping out for several days. The news stated to prepare for having no water or electicity for several days.

The winds in my area are expected to be 95mph with higher wind gust throughout tomorrow afternoon through Saturday. People are busy boarding up their homes and doing what they need to do in preparation for a major storm.

Stocked up ... on non-perishables ...

Supermarkets are bare.

Danah, Aaron and I will be sticking it out here in Cypress, TX ... probably as northwest in Houston you can get inland ....

Biggest concerns are electricity ... water and ... flooding.

Gas is in short supply .... spent a half hour waiting to pump gas ...

Schools closed down ... so it will be a 3 day week-end for us ....

Still have to bring in the lawn furniture ... and other household items in preparation ....

Pray for all in the path of the storm

They are talking about Galveston right now and the poor mayor... the lady looks and acts like she should have been evacuated with the nursing home patients... she talks so slow and acts like she is 90 yrs old! Hope she can move people faster than she can move herself! LOL

I dont really know how this all works, since we never had to evac here in Ca.

But it sounds like you both are staying through the storm, will you be safe?

I love that lady! She does talk rather slow, but she exemplifies the laid back citizenry that she represents in Galveston. The news that it is tracking even farther north toward Galveston means it is going to hit only 45 miles from my home.

I haven't been in a hurricane since 1983, so I guess I was past due for another one.

I kept playing Sheltered In the Arms of God this afternoon on my piano. I have faith in God that I will be safe.

We will wait until in the morning to make our final decision to stay or go. Right now we will most likely stay, it is still a Cat 2 and weakening instead of strengtheing. The bad news is it seems to be moving closer to Glaveston.

Red letter day. My husbands brother and sister both called him on the same day. Never happens! In fact, his brother almost never calls. He wants us to evacuate.

Neighbors down the street are riding it out and we may. We rode out Gustav and it was nothing!

Tried calling PO and received no answer. Someone let me know if she left if they have contact with her.

Unless she has changed her mind recently I think she said her husband did NOT want to leave.

According to wunderground.com, it will strengthen tonight as it moves over a warm spot. I personally wouldn't take any chances.

Just got a report that they anticipate Ike to come in at a Category 1.

We've listened to so many different sources saying different things.

One thing is, it's wider than it was this morning.
