the cause of Christ should be shared with the same passion by both men and women alike

Re: Can Women Pastor ?
The danger of founding a doctrine on a single text, without comparing it with hundreds of other texts that speak of the same theme, cannot be emphasized enough in the light of eternity...

Re: Can Women Pastor ?
Scripture itself compels us to share the greatest love we know—the life of Jesus...and we must share it no matter what the cost to us be...

Re: Can Women Pastor ?
Both the Hebrew (Nebrah), and Greek (Proph) used for prophetess means (female preacher). (See Young's Concordance, Pg. 780.)
The word "Prophet" means a public expounder. The word "Prophesy" means to speak forth, or flow forth. The Bible says in 1 Cor. 14:3, "But he that prophesieth speaketh unto MEN to edification, and exhortation and comfort." The dictionary says, prophesy is "to speak under divine inspiration...to preach." Therefore we learn from the original translation, from the Bible interpretation, and from the dictionary, that to prophesy means more than to tell the future, but it is to speak publicly about the past, present, or future. It is to preach under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. |

But, from what I can remember, you really need to study the meaning of "exegesis" a little more, since "culture & history" do not have one thing to do w/ the immediate text via word definition, syntax, etc....."I thought you would know that!" More appealls outside of the literal text. And I'm well aware of Gordon Fee & Bart Ehrman's angle of I Cor. 14:34....& it's entirely speculative at the end of the day! Daniel Wallace addresses these issues in Strobel's, "The Case for the Real Christ." In sum, EVERY [over 5,000] Greek manuscript that we have possess the verse! Hmmmmmmmmm???? Think I'll stick w/ the literal texts & let you have Gordon Fee! The verse remains applicable & has nothing to do w/ "husbands & wives"....& no translation adopts such a rendering of vs. 34...try again! Can't remember what else you said, but if you would requote it, I'd be more than happy to deal w/ these issues as time allows. At any rate, still waiting on your biblical example of a NT "woman expositor/preacher":_____________? If you can't fill in the blank, then what evidence do we have? N-O-N-E! |
Re: Can Women Pastor ?
The Council of Nicea in 325 made it clear that women were no longer to be ordained along with the clergy but were to remain amongst the laity. Many church councils followed..The councilf Orange..each dealing at some time with women...sad church councils removed godly women...

The Missionary's Prayer
Only one life I have to live for thee Please, make me what I ought to be, Oh God of shining light Help me penetrate heathen night. I will desire no rest Until I offer you my best, My youth, my talents, I gladly give So that others in heaven may live. Oh thou the Galilean King Your message I will gladly bring, So that those who have waited so long At last they can sing the hallelujah song. I will gladly lay my life down So that others may wear a crown I will tell them of your grace So that together we may see your face. (Written by Janice Alvear) |

Judgment Day
Today is judgment day for me I never knew it would have to be We stand more than a million souls That has never heard of thee. With trembling hands and weeping voices We look to one upon a throne Why is it we have never known? And in our land the gospel seed never sown? Oh church, how can we sit on sitting sands? Gathering riches and wealth here below While away off in heathen lands A debt to them we so plainly owe. How can we be so light hearted and gay While billions still do not know the way It's enough to make angels weep Because in heathen creeds they sink so deep So arise and listen to the voices from afar Tell them we are coming, yes we are All other things we count as dross We will gladly bear the missionaries cross.
