The assistant pastor who broke the child labor laws is preaching at West Coast Conference in Fresno this year. Maybe he'll explain it there among the brethren.......probably not.

Just curious, does this make all of the churches that went independent from the UPC proud?
I think it's a direct result of having no oversight, no accountability to anyone, not even the church people that give tithes and offerings. Very sad situation IMO.

Not every independent church is without oversight. Don't paint with such a broad brush.

Why should he?

You just proved my point. He won't .......because there is no accountability. Most people will not even know that he's a criminal, just a good ol' independent preacher.

Excommunication was only for gross sin, not for "ah you caught me breaking the law and being unethical"

First, he's not a criminal. He didn't break a criminal statute. Neither the father nor the son were arrested or charged with anything. So it's dishonest and ignorant to throw around that word.

Second, have you ever been given any kind of traffic citation or other ticket? If you have, you shouldn't talk about who's a criminal.

You need to repent, forgive these men and move on, else the Lord of the servants pulls you in on judgement day and finds all your past sins, which were previously forgiven, have been put back on you.

Many of these independent churches are actually "under" the Fresno church. One pastor was caught having sex with their school secretary. The pastor of Fresno was called and he replaced the offending Pastor with someone else

I agree with the last part. I do believe if a person is being divisive, while that's not a gross sin, it's something which, if not stopped, could and should lead to excommunication.

Not what the legal dictionary says;

"The violation of child labor regulations can subject the perpetrator to criminal prosecution or render the employment contract illegal. In appropriate circumstances an Injunction, a court order that commands or prohibits a certain act, may be issued against a violator to stop the illegal conduct."
