eternal (immortal).

"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and (1) breathed into
his nostrils, and (2) man became a living soul."
So the question here becomes:
(1) What gave the dust (body) life? (2) is there life in the dust? or can dust move
or operate of its own volition?

It was God's breath that gave the body life, and then the body became a living
soul. Thus...the soul is the life of the body. So when a man dies, the body reverts
back to the dust, and the life (soul) goes back to God. BUT MAN (the spirit)
goes to await the judgment!

The soul is immortal in that it reverts back to God: it is a figure of the Holy
Spirit. If a Christian falls from grace, the Holy Spirit goes back from where
it was sent.

nice. i don't agree, as it seems to me that God breathed "spirit" into Adam; and my evidence would be that Adam was not destined for judgement, having no knowledge of good v evil--he could not sin, iow...but i dunno.
i have some reflections on "dust of the earth..."

It just dont take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.

so your position is that Adam was created mortal, but did not age in the garden?

Yes, because of the Tree of Life.

It just stands to reason.....

22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

It wasnt a "teaser" tree, never to be eaten. It was "open game" to eat before the fall.

If it was never eaten from, and just put there for after the fall of man to see from a distance and WISH he could eat from to avoid death, that would not make sense at all.

I don't doubt that men have a more rational explanation.

But please note that God did not breathe [a spirit] into Adam's body of dust, but
life! For he [Adam] was already a created spirit-being: "...in the image of God
created He them."

"Seek and you shall find."

It would be like dangling a cure for a fatal disease in front of a dying person and saying "too bad".

The reality is, they traded trees willingly with a warning attatched!

If you see "harmful or fatal if swallowed" and you drink it anyway, dont blame God as you are gasping for breath.

hmm, wadr, "it just stands to reason" is hardly sufficient, at least without some agreement--not that i disagree...he had lived...130 years when he had Seth; do we know his age when he had Cain? searching...

well, it might if the fruit of the tree was "Rebound," yes?
