I find it humorous when pastors tithe themselves off the tithe they receive.

Levi would be so proud of his distant “offspring”

Is that what a tally stick was?

I believe you are being facetious? I didn’t say that you should pay tithes on every tenth check. The concept would be that you give every tenth check in whole if you were to tithe checks. Tithing checks however in unscriptural. (It can’t be supported by scripture, whether New Testament or Old). So if you wish to tell people about tithing checks, it would be accurate and truthful to say that there is NO scripture to support tithing checks. . . or money for that matter.

Actually, a tally stick is referred to as a rod in the kjv. I have read in a commentary (NOT THE BIBLE) that the rod was used to mark every tenth animal by dipping the rod in ochre and thereby tapping the beast and leaving a mark on it to signify that it was to be tithed. (Maybe like dipping a paint brush in paint and daubing paint on the tenth animal to mark it for the tithe). The clean animals could not be redeemed according to my understanding of the law. Crops could be if you added one fifth to the value of the crops. That is how I understand it anyway. I don’t think dealing with animals has changed all that much in the last four or five thousand years.

Esaias,

Another resource:

If you go for it, and get an answer, and they allow for it, share the response here in this thread?

Thanks!

I understand what a tally stick is, how currency was all sorts of items. From sea shells (wampum) to pieces of paper with pictures of dead politicians. I was asking a question to another poster. But thank you for your answer.

Cool, but why go there?

I am the go-to guy for Bible answers, and I am right here.

You're welcome . . . I guess? Sorry for accepting your question at face value. I well understand that you are a man that is gifted with knowledge. I didn't mean to be condescending. I am justifiably rebuked. I will try to bring my posts up to your higher standards. I will also try to not "butt in" to conversations that are obviously not directed to me. Thank you for your understanding.:thumbsup
