Actually, it does not say call no man a fool. Perhaps that might have been part of the problem, a lack of biblical hermeneutics.

When you read the context you see he was speaking about using the word fool out of anger.

There is nothing about the word "fool" that speaks of not loving someone. It's a category itself...it's the intent as Jesus was addressing in Mat..using it as an insult

Actually, no you don't know how I will respond because in the two, nearly three years, that I have been gone not once have I ever stated such to any who have offered. If one wishes to extend that kindness to me they are more than welcome to and I thank them for it and you as well.

Thank you for acknowledging that I have not engaged in such and I do not plan on it either. Something I also don't plan on is engaging in a personal attack because of how someone believes even though this has already been done twice under the guise of quoting scripture which, in some peoples eyes, makes it ok.

And that gives a person permission to how? It helps bring them closer to your god how?

Answer: it doesn't.

Somehow after 25 years I don't think hermeneutics was or would have been the problem. If so then those teaching and instructing were also in error. You as a pastor don't let a new minister into a pulpit who doesn't have proper understanding or instruction.

Seriously? calling someone a fool is a good thing? Wow, I haven't spin like that in a while. It is very insulting and rude and somehow I think that if I started going around calling everyone here a fool for believing not only would the mods have an issue with me but so would the posters.

But hey it's ok because you're quote a bible verse. Someday pentecostals are going to understand that doing such and telling people how reprehensible they are doesn't lead people to god. It's just an insult.

Ya know, I think nearly all the OPs here would say there are some "fools" who believe things with no reason to believe them. Aren't there? Mormons, e.g.? Muslims? Hindus? Shintoists? Roman Catholics? Trinitarians? (Stopping there. :lol)

Anyway, back on topic, it is my considered opinion that there are a large number (won't speculate on an exact percentage) of ministers (and laymen) who are in the "pretending to believe" boat. Or at least in the boat of nagging questions that don't have answers. And not questions that don't matter -- questions that really should have answers! And better answers than "We don't know that, but we'll understand it all by and by." ;)

The word "fool" is such an old school term. I prefer more modern words like moron, imbecile, dunder head, and finally "low information voter". LOL

Actually the Greek word μωρός is were we get the English word moron.

So, be encouraged, your more preferable term is the Biblical term. :)
