True to the beautiful symmetry of redemption expressed by God's poetic nature, He uses a temporal by-product of the fall (pain) to help deliver us from the eternal consequences thereof.

Why do you say pain is part of the curse? Do you believe God created the human body without the ability to experience pain?

Great question .... are you suggesting we felt pain or capable of feeling before the fall???

It is to say ... did God "feel" pain when Adam and Even sinned? And are they not created in His image?

I don't recall in Scripture anywhere where it says that physical pain is the result of sin. Pain is a vital part of a healthy body. I have personally seen lepers in Hong Kong with missing fingers and feets. I have seen them walking on the side of their foot not being aware that they were doing so. They would do this until eventually the foot would fall off. Why? Because they had no sense of pain. I don't believe God created us without the ability to experience pain. We need pain as a protection informing us that there is a problem with our bodies.

Death and sickness are a result of the fall; I would say that pain is as well, since they are related.

but isn't this protection there because our bodies are now subject to death???

Isnt pain part of the OLD ORDER ...

Revelation 21:4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

Wouldn't eating from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil ... allow them to see the evils of pain???

SDG 04-14-2007 01:30 PM

Can it be that God placed this protection in, in his infinite wisdom, after the fall ... as an alarm for relief .... SOMETHING'S WRONG ... GET RELIEF... OR WILL SURELY DIE.

I'm still waiting for Scripture that proves pain is a result of the curse. I don't believe that death and pain are the same thing. I have known of people who died without experiencing pain.

IMO this is one of those teachings that have come to us through tradition based on God saying the woman would have pain multiplied in childbirth as a result of her sin.

Question! How much is 0 multiplied by any number ?

You can't multiply what didn't already exist.

But didn't she and he feel pain as a result of their disgrace, guilt and shame in disobeying God ....
