I asked my sources and the DS hadn't heard of Bro Foster having a stroke... I figured he would have heard for certain. Maybe it was a mild one???

Anyone have any news on this???

A little Canadian humour for you!

An American decided to write a book about famous churches around the world. So he bought a plane ticket and took a trip to Orlando, thinking that he would start by working his way across the USA from South to North.

On his first day he was inside a church taking photographs when he noticed a golden telephone mounted on the wall with a sign that read '$10,000 per call'.

The American, being intrigued, asked a priest who was strolling by what the telephone was used for. The priest replied that it was a direct line to heaven and that for $10,000 you could talk to God. The American thanked the priest and went along his way.

Next stop was in Atlanta. There, at a very large cathedral, he saw the same golden telephone with the same sign under it. He wondered if this was the same kind of telephone he saw in Orlando and he asked a nearby nun what its purpose was. She told him that it was a direct line to heaven and that for $10,000 he could talk to God.

“O.K., thank you,” said the American .

He then traveled to Indianapolis, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston, and New York. In every church he saw the same golden telephone with the same '$10,000 per call' sign under it.

The American, upon leaving Vermont decided to travel up to Canada to see if Canadians had the same phone. He arrived in Canada, and again, in the first church he entered, there was the same golden telephone, but this time the sign under it read '25 cents per call.' The American was surprised so he asked the priest about the sign. "Father, I've traveled all over America and I've seen this same golden telephone in many churches. I'm told that it is a direct line to Heaven, but in the US the price was $10,000 per call. Why is it so cheap here?"

The priest smiled and answered, “You're in Canada now, son - it's a local call.”

Nope!

I went down to Harbour Station and watched the Sea Dogs dump pucks in the net for sixty minutes.

There was another team on the ice, but they didn't really seem to grasp the point of the game; I don't think that anybody got around to telling them that they were supposed to try and stop the Sea Dogs from scoring goals.

And no fights - it was something, but it wasn't a hockey game.

(The Tim Hortons' tea was the best part of the evening.)

When they find a real team to play against the Dogs, there'll be some hockey in the Port City.

I didn't see you, but I saw your name in lights... birthday coming up?

I have to say, the Sea Dogs are good this year, but the goalie.. he wasn't the best. :)

It sounds like you're a week behind.

The birthday deal was during the final game of the regular season.

That game was against the Moncton Wildcats, and was a decent game.

The Sea Dogs replaced their goalie after a couple of early game goals by the Wildcats, but, last night, he was back on his game, making some nice saves.

Your name was up on the big screen while they were announcing birthdays.. in big HUGE letters. I did notice they didn't actually name you over the loudspeaker, and wondered. They must have put the wrong thing up there...

Your goalie did make some nice saves last night... glad to hear he was better than before lol... I'll leave it at that. HA.

:gaga

I did enjoy the game, except for the slaughter... and you're right... no fights. We were all expecting one. We were in the G-section, lower bowl... close to the ice (and your goalie ;).
We'd love to make it to more games, but it just isn't going to happen. I hope they go all the way!

Don't touch the goalie, or there'll be a fight after all!!!

I was in the H-section, aisle seats next to the G-section.

Hey! I thought I recognized a familiar face.

Was that you with your face painted blue and white, standing on your seat doing a happy dance every time the Sea Dogs scored?

I wouldn't have to touch him... I could blow on him and he'd fall over.

Were you in the lower bowl? Close to the glass where they come in at the first of the game? I think I may have seen you after all but it didn't register at the time.
Too busy trying not to choke on our day old popcorn. I knew I should have gotten the nachos!

Yes, that was me... I also had my big "number one" finger and shaved "Sea Dogs" into the side of my head for the occasion.

Well Glory. Small world for hockey lovers in NB.

Top row of the lower bowl.

Maybe you should have gotten a civilized snack like Tim Hortons' tea and Timbits.

No glory for you!

(You shaved your head and spoke ill of our goalie. You can be forgiven for the shaving part.)

:canada Congratulations to Jeffrey Buttle from Canada...he just won the gold in World Ice Skaking Championship in Sweden!!

I thought sure the defending gold medal winner from France had it, but Jeff's scores allowed him to run away with the contest...he was wonderful!! :canada

A decade behind, indeed!!

Churches are now organizing "bowling night socials"!!

The movie theater is still frowned upon, at least publicly - if you go, you have to drive to another city and hope you don't run into the brethren from the local assembly!! ha ha!

Or, do what has become absolutely acceptable - wait until the movie-theater-offering comes out on video, and go rent it!! You're seeing the same thing, only six months late on a smaller screen. Somehow this makes sense to people? Give me the big screen any day! What is important is that you are a Christian in what you watch - it matters not where the viewing takes place.

God has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us in all our ways which includes how we entertain ourselves. I realize that life would be so much easier if we all enjoyed the same things and disliked the same things. Then the golfer wouldn't judge the hockey fan, and the movie goer wouldn't condemn the person who spends his or her time being entertained on the internet, etc. :) I do believe we can be led by the Spirit in what we embrace of this world, so that we are not led away from our devotion to God in our need for a social life, which is also important to being a balanced person.

He heeeeee! I think this will be a good bit on the radio, I need listeners to find me a team to root for...imagine, no biases, family traditions, regional loyalties, just a blank slate...er mind, pliable, and able to root for the best hockey team out there. Question: At the games, do they put that little blue streak to follow the puck? That way I can understand the game!

Re: Whaaaaaaatt???? What's happening in Canada??

To Elisabeth, Maple Leaf, and Barb,

It's nice to know that there are still some sensible folks out there who truly believe the Spirit can lead and guide us on a daily basis! I personally believe it is more than just being led by the Spirit. I happen to believe that the Word of God is true when it says in Titus 2:11-12 "For the grace of God has appeared bring salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age."(ESV)

When we have a proper understanding of the grace of God, we know that we are saved, not by any works that we have done, but by grace through faith, yet having taken on the very nature of Christ, grace trains us in how to live in such a way that our lifestyle is a reflection of who we are in Christ, so that we are not embarrassing ourself and Christ as we represent the kingdom of God on earth.

Not much happening in our parts I guess.

Our services have been wonderful... I'm looking forward to Sunday with Anticipation. Our Pastor is in Pakistan for a conference, so prayers on his behalf and behalf of the missionaries are appreciated.

It is SO wonderful to hear folks who are excited with anticipation for the house of prayer. Church services are sometimes looked at as a 'have to' thing..."Oh we have to go to church tonight."

When in reality, what a privilege that we get to be in the presence of God and His people one more time. :bliss

I will certainly be praying for your pastor...
