I really enjoyed the team from CCC who did the singing during Summer Summit. They're really really good! As good as you'd find anywhere! And I mean that sincerely. And the music was great too.

Here's a quiz for a Canadian Idol watching Chipmunk.

Did you:

__ Watch it in the electronics department at Sears?

__ Watch it on your wife's television?

__ Write a letter and attach it to the affirmation statement.

__ Watch the 15 minute recap at CTV.ca (Which is somehow different than watching television)?

__ Have a board member record it so it could be watched on a bootleg DVD?

__ Watch it on the Church's projection screen with the youth group?

As I understand the situation Truly Blessed, or any other minister in his situation, could apply to Pastor any UPC church that is not formally affiliated without UPCI credentials. This is especially true of the larger Atlantic District churches that have become legally independent of the UPC through incorporation.

Do the Bible School by-laws actually require that the President have credentials with the UPCI? Perhaps having a President without UPC credentials would help the school appeal to a wider cross section of the church world. Was that not the reason for removing the United Pentecostal name from the school years ago?

I don't really know all the ins and outs of the points raised here but I DO know that your impression of why the school name was changed is incorrect.

The change was made basically.........
  • to identify the location of the school (Northeast)

  • and Christian College was chosen because the concept of a BLEND program was being introduced at that time.

Are you certain about this? The trend has been for churches to remove the "stigma" of the term Pentecostal from their names for several years now. The reason is always said to be so that they can appeal to a wider group of people who aren't comfortable with "Pentecostal."

Are you certain that the Government did not require them to change the name to "College" because of the unaccredited nature of the school? Wasn't "college" to identify them with the non-degree granting vocational community college system in New Brunswick?

I am positive sir. I'm sure the term "Pentecostal" was never viewed as being a stigma. After all it's what we (collective we :)) are, what we always have been and what we always will be.

Now, generally speaking........ (not addressing anything specific here) ............

I don't care what does or doesn't appeal to a "wider group of people". And the fact is that no matter what label you wear or use there will be those who may not feel comfortable with it. There are huge numbers of people in the world who have a problem with the label "Christian". Does that mean we stop wearing that particular label? I don't think so! :)

Being Pentecostal is not 'stigmatic' far as I'm concerned.

I'm not with Environment Canada, but I predict a storm on the horizon.

I hope The Senator brought his galoshes when he came (or came back) to forum life.

This would be a good time for one my favourite comedy sketches, written by Radio Free Vestibule. (I don't know who the performers are, but they're pretty good)
