Remind Us Again Why We Ignore this Passage

So, Jesus told the eleven to do something (baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit). Then he told them to teach them (all nations, i.e., you and me) to do likewise. So, Peter knew better than Jesus how to accomplish (the fulfillment) that particular thing? Peter must have thought, "Hmm. When Jesus said to baptize like that, what He really meant was this. I'll correct His error." Is that correct?

In Luke 24:44-50 , right before His ascension, Jesus spoke to his disciples

and then OPENED their understanding, (why?) that they might UNDERSTAND

the scriptures. A few days later the Holy Ghost was poured out and Peter

preached and those that GLADLY received his word, were baptized. Peter

had just told them how! Jesus told him and the others how just a few days

before. He told them in Luke 24:47 that repentance and remission of sins

should be preached IN HIS NAME among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

WHO was crucified for me! Who died for my sins! I have no problem nor

argument about HIS NAME! His NAME shall be called JESUS for He shall save

HIS people!! His children love HIS Name!! It identifies WHOSE I am!!!

And whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of JESUS!!!

Blessings, and love to all!!!

I don't agree with the "Yeshua" teaching either, but if some folks are going to make the name a "talisman" then they can't correctly use the "Grecian" form of Yeshua, which is Jesus. Actually, it is not even Jesus, it is spelled with an "I."

When you pray and call on the name of the Lord, what name do you call on? I call on the English translation of the Greek. I would expect the Spanish to call on the Spanish translation of that name, and the French, the French translation of that name.....

When you cast out devils or heal the sick what name do you call on?

Am I not understanding your point? The name of the Lord is not a magical talisman but it is His name and when we call on His name, He answers..

What if someone is baptized in the only name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved?

Shall we re-baptize those that weren't baptized exactly as Peter instructed then .... What about those that were baptized in the name of Jesus and not as he said be baptize in the name of JESUS CHRIST ....

Researchers say Jesus was one of the most popular names of the time ... maybe we will have to be more formulaic to obey the Word?

Many? How many? :winkgrin
