I don't think you're going to get one though.

And I think the comments that have come after my post have more than proven that many liberals are harsh and defensive... but if outward things mean nothing whatsoever to God, you're defensive over nothing. So, why are you defensive at all? It's no skin off your nose if a lady wishes to keep their hair long and uncut... it's no skin off your nose if a man isn't wearing his shorts above his knee.... it's not going to send anyone to hell to not cut their hair so why are you so defensive when people might actually want to embrace what you left? It shouldn't matter a lick to you.

Of course I was looking for an argument it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out...I told him, I was messin with him. Good grief, lighten up. I've already answered your question. I don't care what you wear, and I am not defensive.

Your reaction to my post is defensive and intrusive which let's me know you are insecure in your position. Instead of attacking me, you should be saying..Can't we all just get along?

I am happy for you and your church to finally move past decades old division and embrace the unity of God...How beautiful it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.

Not that is matters, but Eastwood is not my church. I married a girl from that church, we live nearby and visit. We are assisting an area Pastor.

Great, you have a beautiful spirit and I'm sure God will use your ministry greatly. Your willingness to embrace others is the beginning of true Christlikeness.

And it doesn't.:jolly:jolly:jolly By the way, I didn't leave anything or ever embrace outward appearance as salvific. You are assuming I have been delivered from something I viewed as bondage, I've never embraced it, and yes it is needless attention to nothing.

The more we focus on flesh, the more fleshly we become.

FYI.. I wrote my post before your "just messin with you" post... it appeared after however. I tend to take my time with my posts and read and re-read them before posting.

I'm not the least bit insecure... I just am calling it like I see it. Nothing defensive about it. Just wonder why "most" liberals bare their teeth when outward is even hinted at... why does it bother them? I've said that probably three times now. THAT is my point.

(Also, this is a public forum for Apostolics, nothing intrusive about me posting here at all. Unless this forum is exclusive. If it is, I'll kindly remove myself.)

I've weighed my words, and have not been rude. I haven't attacked anyone, and my posts have been generally speaking to everyone, even if I quoted something you said specifically, it wasn't because I was singling you out I assure you.

Sandra 12-10-2007 11:49 AM

I know KC, we traveled on the same tour for 6 weeks. I would love to know his take on HOMOSEXUALITY.

Again.. wasn't speaking specifically to you...

Your statement... "The more we focus on flesh, the more fleshly we become" makes sense and yet doesn't make sense. Maybe it would make more sense if used in a different context. My long hair isn't my focus.

If your teaching your church against adultery for three weeks because God laid it on your heart that someone might be considering it... is that focusing too much on the flesh and therefore becoming more fleshly? I just don't think your statement makes much sense. Again.. maybe in a different context.. like spending too much time on the computer or watching filth or smoking your lungs black... or eating too much fast food... Then it might make perfect sense.

rgcraig 12-10-2007 11:57 AM

I'm a liberal and I don't have any problem with others keeping their outward dress convictions.

I just expect the same tolerance from them as I'm willing to show toward them.

Parden me if this sounds rude, not intending it if it does. But, if you traveled with him for 6 weeks, why didn't you ask him?

I don't know how much of a trinitarian he is these days. His songs have various oneness tones (Something Happens, for example). Even his last project....the inside jacket proclaimed...One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, One Church.

We sang with him in May 2005. In the 3 days we were with him, if he was trinitarian...you never would have known it by the way he was talking.

Wrong again... you missed me... I never said anything about the UPC... I was very aware that you were related because you mentioned it in your earlier post and I also figured you were birthed in the AA but that is still the Oneness movement and traditional Pentecost. So aim and shoot this time instead of shooting and then aiming.:guns:santathumb

If anybody from Eastwood is reading this can you tell me if there is still a couple at your church who would be pretty old by now and whose first names are Warren and Tess (The husband's name is correct but I am not certain of the wifes)

Yup. I think their last name is Smith.

When I was about seven or eight years old I went to church with them in Alaska. Then in the late 70's while in Bible College on a trip to Lake Charles I got to reconnect with them again. I visited their house and as I recall I think they went to ME's church.

The would probably be in their 60's or 70's now.

Ferd 12-10-2007 05:11 PM

Is Tess the church secretary? if so, then Warren is the guy that gets the high sign from ME at the end of service.

That means he leaves to go fire up the BBQ Pit.

Sandra,

I have seen it down recently (she shouts it down fairly regular):shockamoo:shockamoo and it is definitely not trimmed or cut in any way in recent times. If it has been she needs to fire her hairdresser!:santathumb

CC1,

They are still there. The Smiths lived 4 houses down from me when I first moved to Moss Bluff. For some inexplicable reason, as soon as I closed on my house they put theirs on the market.:sad:sad :D

Tess is indeed the church secretary.

Bro. Jones, I keep meaning to ask you, what part of LA exactly do you live in?

DizzyDe,

Southwest Louisiana, Calcasieu Parish.

I live in a bed room community 7 miles north of Lake Charles, LA, Moss Bluff.

My dad became pastor of a rural church in Longville, LA which is about 25 miles north of Lake Charles in 1979 and I got relocated there since I was at TBC when this occurred. I moved to Alexandria, LA in July of 1988 and moved back to the Lake Charles area in January of 2000.

philjones,

Thanks for the info. I guess when they heard you were moving in they thought "there goes the neighborhood!" LOL!!!

If you see them tell them I said hello (use my real name of course!).

When I was about seven Warren was my hero because he was in the Army. I got an Army tent for my birthday and talked him into camping in it with me in my backyard so I REALLY felt like I was a soldier.

One day while we were visiting them I got it in my little head that a tin measuring cup there was Warren's "Army cup" (he may have told me that, I don't remember). In any case they gave me that tin measuring cup to be my "Army cup" and I have it to this day (about 41 years later).

I have a great uncle and aunt who live in Ball, and I thought you had mentioned Alexandria at one point so I was curious! Color me nosy! Actually, I had some really close friends that pastored on the other side of Alec for a while in the late 80's as well.
