We Apostolics worship only one God, if we were to worship more than one God, then that would be spiritual adultery.

Why does doing what’s right or what’s wrong, seem to always need to be measured by hell if you do or don’t?

Reminds me of scare tactics to try get someone saved...
I mean why not just try to do what’s right because we love Him, and are trying to do what pleases Him in everything we do?

Gotta be hell to pay?

Personally, I don’t have/allow a decorated evergreen in my house called an Annointed One tree, but I’m not about to try to put others in hell that do. But those that foolishly do not even consider if it pleases Him or not, probably have more issues...after all, when the dust settles, it’s about striving to please Him.

Other than being based on paganism and materialism, it's good.
Time off from work and family time is good.

Contextually, this passage cannot be used to condemn the modern Christmas tree custom. It is referring to a specific practice by a specific people at a specific time. Furthermore, the chiseling mentioned is referring to carving out an idol.

Yes, I think Isaiah 40 adds clarity to the passage, that the issue was images being carved out of the wood.

Quote:

Isaiah 40
19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
20 He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

That being said, the origins of the holiday are clearly pagan and commercial. We spend the time off enjoying each others company and going out to eat.

It seems that its speaking of contructing a permanent fixture for a altar for pagan worship at home.

1 Corinthians 10:14
Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry, unless you can pass it off as Christian.
