But then again, for the Atlantic District, this just sounds like church in the parking lot outside. Fog, fog lights, a boat horn and a bell. 'eh? |

While preaching he noticed that the PA system had some bad feedback so later that week he was in the sanctuary experiementing with moving the speakers to different locations to alleviate the problem. An elderly lady in the church walked in while he was doing that and asked him what he was doing. When he explained she started shaking her head doubtfully and said something to this effect "I don't know Brother. The last time somebody did something like this (move the PA speakers) it almost caused a church split.". The sad thing is she was serious. Like that church had any hope of reaching the lost with those kind of priorities. |
Re: What is the young UPC preacher waiting for?
Ron,
While I understand your concerns, I do take issue with you referring to my church as "looking just like the world". The use of fog and lights is a once-a-year occurance. It is not something we do regularly. I personally find it distracting, creating more of a concert feel, than a worship feel. But I'm not really a "youth" any longer. We do this for one weekend a year, our youth weekend. It surprised and actually hurts a bit, that you would say this about a church you have never been to. One of your own. It lends credence to the "eating thier own" comments that certain others make. If you could come for one of our regular services, you would never say our church was "just like the world", because once a year we let the youth have the big "concert" feel. Our youth worship just as exuberantly and sincerely during our Sunday morning and evening services, and prayer services (yes prayer services) as they do during thier one weekend a year. I am immensly proud of our youth. Perfect, they are not. Perfect I am not. But the majority of our youth are serving God, loving God, growing in God... Please take a little step back, and rethink the quick judgement call you made on our church. I know you (from the forum) to be a man who is Christian, above all else. In all sincerity... because we are your brothers and sisters. Mrs. LPW |

It has been years since there was the smell of the mill wafting on the breeze. Saint John recently welcomed its 1,000,000th cruise ship visitor. (Almost 200,000 this year alone) And, of interest to you, housing is up by 20% compared to 4.5% in fredericton. |

Actually yes, I have noticed an improvement on the smell in SJ. So did you go to the docks to see Rosie when that 1,000,000th cruise ship visitor came ashore? :evilglee And no mention of my age is to be made... I'm very sensitive about it this year! :grampa |
