Re: Overcoming Lust - Easy to do?
You must not fight the lust alone, fight it together with God.
One way to overcome it is to meditate on thoughts of Jesus Christ or saying His name until the lust perish. Or pray to Jesus and call for help. It works for me. Try it. Sometimes the reason for lust to rise up has something to do with a demonic spirit, especially when it's addicting. Might be out of the topic, but try it anyways http://www.takehisheart.com/satanintroduction.htm It teaches us the methods of the enemy in attacking us. |

I believe if we walk in the spirit, it is hard to be drawn away by our lust. IMO it is hard to lust when our minds are focused on Christ.
With men, I understand the battle is worse as far as sexual lust, but I believe that lust can be overcome just like any other lust. It is a matter of choice. |

We can't argue whether or not we have a sinful nature. The Bible bears out that we do. When we covet or set our heart for things that become a "stronghold" - that is lust. God does make a way of escape. We can't fight our fight with carnal means, but through the spirit. II Cor 10:4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; (5)Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; |

I do think that when there is lust in a man's heart that it has very little to do with how a woman looks or what she wears. I know several men who have had sexual addictions and the women, list of women you see them with are many times; quite ugly [no physical beauty], some rarely in their right mind to the point of being mentally retarded, and some will even practice bestiality, and necromancy. When the sexual sins beset you it isn't about anything but the entertainment of the evil spirit in your life and unless you choose deliverance you will never be free from it. The Bible talks about the weights and sins that so easily beset us - we all have a pet sin...that same thing that comes back to torment us. Only you as an idvidual knows what it is in your life. This is something we have to flee from, give no place to, and have accountability to maintain freedom from that one thing that always seems to come back to you in weak moments. Paul speaks about this when he tells us that the things he wants to do - he fails to do and the things he struggles with and don't want to do is what he ends up doing. You and I are no different than Paul and each of us have our struggle/problem area that needs God's mercy and grace to cover and deliver us from. The first step is identifying what it is, repenting of it, and take every precaution to keep it from attaching itself to us again. If and when it does...we go through the same process: know the triggers, run/flee from those situations, and run to the foot of the cross. Blessings, Rhoni |
