Bro Ben, I understand your frustration. I hope and pray that you haven't experienced-and will never experienced-anything like this in your life or in the lives of your family. I've seen it and experienced it. You are correct that nothing will stop some bad things from happening in the name of religion. But we have to continue to hope. :heart

No, frustration here, I just think it's all a waste of time and effort to parade this sort of behavior around the front yard. Preachers in every denomination have made mistakes over the pulpit, and alluded to things over the pulpit. Even brought to court because of their behavior in and out of the church. What I think is interesting is that it seems we never discuss the agita the people can cause ministers who are trying to build a church, or work with a church family. How many pastors ever dragged offending parishioners into court? There have been times that has happened, but alas it would still be the preacher's fault, and his organizations problem.

I can understand that the United Pentecostal Church International is always the whipping boy. It may be due to there consistent fortitude to overcome all the whiners who are constantly praying for their demise. I guess they have broad shoulders to bare the weight.

Yet, some people never miss an opportunity to make good use of a disaster, and spread the horrible story to one in all. It's understandable that men who are in the position of authority, may let the authority to over step some boundaries, and they pay for it. They pay for it in more ways than one.

Let's just remember there are bad apples on both sides of the pulpit, which we cannot hold an organization accountable for those few bad apples.

In Jesus name

Oh, no doubt, I have noticed your never ending love flow from your key board.

I stand corrected on that point. The "Mr." did file for divorce.

I am speculating now, but could this fact be a major catalyst behind "the announcement?" The gentleman in the case does not appear to have been a "victim" of divorce at all. The sad lament of irreconcilable differences has been intoned.

Do I detect that old rotten smell of the double standard? How much better it would have been had the preacher exercised discretion. He didn't have to tar the "ex" from the pulpit to justify things, but when presented with an opportunity, the tar and feathers flew. So typical. So sad. I had hoped that there would be some sort of complicating factors forthcoming and this wouldn't pan out to be an attack on an innocent party just so some dude could marry the preacher's daughter.

Wow. "Sarge" adds that another UPC pastor testified on behalf of the plaintiff - presumably against the defense. This shows that there are some courageous men in UPC pulpits. It also makes E.B.'s accusations of "hatred" being spread against the UPC itself appear rather trite.

As for the "bikini" incident... all I can say is TOLD YA SO! No bikini, no "parading around in front of the husband of a mutual friend." And, certainly no "adultery" at the public pool!

Some of you guys are just nasty. Sorry, but it's true.

Re: UPC Pastor Convicted of Slander in Pulpit!

I was at the GA District meeting when MF came back in 98 and took a church here and they put him up to preach. He preached a message, "A Method and Manner of Distinction". Most of it was fabricated and lots of false statements throughout. I took notes and could not believe what this man was preaching. He trashed everybody that did not subscribe to his version of standards. He is a politician and really worked hard to get his position as District Secretary. This is a sad commentary to a movement that allows men to "lord" over God's heritage and because he has a few books out and is a shameless self promoter - they put him in position. Some things never change.
In simple terms - His lies finally caught up with him and now someone will have to pay. She should have gotten a lot more than $500,000!
I cannot imagine what this lady has gone through in her community and her family with this trash talker justifying the character assassination of this lady that is still in a UPC church.
According to her ex-husband and others, she was not unfaithful and was not immoral or a fornicator. He simply wanted to move on and marry the daughter of MF. MF gave his blessings and justified the adultery by false accusations.
$500,000 for a lie and I wonder if he ever came down off his high horse and apologized to this lady? Living a double standard and lying will catch up with you eventually.
Now, I wonder what the GA District board will do about the District Secretary being a proven liar in a court of law?

Yes, but the UPCI does seem to promote the self promoters and usurpers all too often. There are many good and decent men (and ladies) who actually work hard and quietly contribute without blowing their own horn all the time. These fine folk are the reason the whole structure hasn't been consumed already.

My whole UPCI experience was one long series of amazing events where I was continually baffled by how things would just get more and more stupid. Right when you thought that you had "seen it all" and nothing else could possibly happen that would be more lame, viola! Something (usually "someone") even more stupid would pop up and prove me wrong.
